Head over to SingKong and get Sum!

First of all let us tell you, this has been a long time coming. If you haven’t gone to this pan-asian heaven on earth yet, we truly sympathise and take the blame for this catastrophe upon ourselves. You obviously haven’t wanted to go yet because our review wasn’t out 😉 What can we say, we’ve been too busy eating our way through every single dish on their menu (self-absorbed gluttony). Tsk.

For the mean time though they have this kick-ass dim sum festival going on throughout October and our palates are tingling fresh with all the yumminess and we just had to share it with you!

Non-Vegetarian (Rs. 295+ each):

Shrimp & Gari Dumplings (below) – These pouches of finely diced shrimp were refreshing and with the right amount of sesame chilli soy sauce, gave a perfect balance of crunch. If you’re a seafood lover, this should be on top of your list. It was our personal favourite!

Chicken & Shitake Mushroom Dumplings (below) – Chicekn siu mai with our favourite type of mushroom doesn’t leave too much to the imagination. We loved how it made even meat like chicken sing with absolute flavour. A special shout out to this innovative sauce, that we definitely haven’t seen anywhere else. It was the right amount of spicy with an amazing dash of ginger.

Baked Chicken Puff (below)– This delectable and juicy puff left us wanting more than just the 3 pieces. This should be a whole basket full and it would be the perfect meal. The coating was a perfect toasty brown, but broke away like paper. We’re still mesmerised!

Vegetarian (Rs. 245+ each):

Spicy Vegetable Soup Dumplings (below) – THIS. IS. MAGIC. Imagine a beautiful clear chinese flavoured oil, and nestled in it the softest covering encasing gorgeous soup loaded up with a burst of spice and flavour. We still don’t know what burst in our mouth. It was just a gush load of awesome. We also couldn’t get over the cute soup spoons it came in (which also made them really easy to eat). Love it.

Water Chestnut & Seasonal Vegetables Crystal Dumplings (below) – So we’ve had clear gelatinous coated ones before, and were not a big fan. Until this. The coating is almost absent, and melts away beautifully so you can savour each and every finely diced veggie. It’s a vegetarian’s delight.

Forest Mix Mushroom Purple Dumplings (below) – We were just blown away merely by the visual, and then some more when we tasted this careful mix of three different sorts of mushroom. Again, the shitake was quite overpowering so we really didn’t care much about the sauce. The mushroom was all that was needed. If you are not a fan of bland, maybe stay away from these.

Chilli Oyster Cottage Cheese & Pepper Dumplings (below) – If you’re non-vegetarian, and still for some reason reading this veg section, we’re glad you made it to this one, because this my friend tastes better than meat. It’s the mushiest and creamiest of the lot and had us begging for more. The flavours are so powerful, you’ll forget this is cottage cheese.

The interesting (and fun) part of all this is, Singkong does their sauces so well, that it leaves you with a vast array of dips and oils that you want to try with everything! What we loved is the versatility of them, and even though they’re cleverly paired with certain dim-sum, we went crazy trying the same dim sum, with four to five sauces and it absolutely changed the flavour each and every time.

Now stop drooling, and start booking before the 31st of October because this Dim Sum Festival isn’t going to wait…and now, neither are your taste buds! 😉
