So Adidas has been busy, what with their biggest store in the country launching in Luru and stuff. Yet, amidst all that hulabaloo they held The Adidas Uprising Tournament on the 26th of September.
Yeah we know, we never do post-event coverage, but we want you to check this out and not miss the next one! So here’s what happened:
- It was the first one they have done with a promise to have many more in the coming months!
- There were different categories for U10/U13/U15/U17 and adults.
- This tournament was organised by Gameday Arts.
- The tournament had a whopping 600 participants with 32 adult teams and 64 teams spread out over the kids categories.
The best teams from the kids tournaments came from the under-13 section. Titans FC were the winners with Shreyas being their star player. However, let’s not forget Amogh Gachi, a talented box-to-box midfielder who ensured that Stripes FC made it to the finals!
The adult’s tournament saw some great teams playing including a team named Tola Volage, led by ex-professional futsal player Javier Cabrera (I know right!). Tola Volage managed to reach the semis. TYHFC were the runners up, largely due to the performance from incredibly talented and alert goal keeper.
The winners were Ex Pro 7 with Kieran undoubtedly being the player of the tournament.
The entry fee for adults was Rs. 3,000 per team with the winners getting a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and Adidas vouchers worth Rs. 5,000 (for EACH player). The runners-up didn’t leave empty handed with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and some Adidas vouchers of their own (time for some new studs)!
