A simple habit of composting your kitchen waste can do a great favour to the city waste management, and also give you the most fertile soil to start that herb garden in your kitchen or backyard, which you’ve always wanted.

What is composting? It’s quite simple, really – decomposition of organic waste into healthy, nutrient rich soil, using natural catalysts like air, water and micro organisms.
Why compost? Let’s break it down – it is said that an urban dweller in India accounts for 700 gms of solid waste per day = 250 kgs of waste, per person, per year! When this waste reaches our landfills without being segregated, the plastic, glass and aluminium take decades, if not hundreds of years to decompose.
